It’s always great to be able to see our work truly come to life and last weekend I was fortunate enough to see this happen with The Royal Lifesaving Society at their 2016 Open Water Festival.
As one of our valued clients, RLSS is a charity devoted to drowning prevention and are the UK’s leading provider of water safety and drowning prevention education. This year saw their second year of hosting the Open Water Festival, a day filled with open water swimming, family activities, fundraising and a chance to spread the work of the charity further. Held at the beautiful Ragley Hall in Warwickshire, you couldn’t ask for a more picturesque venue.
This year I was a competitor in the open water swimming events. As I’m relatively new to the sport it was a fantastic opportunity to get my wetsuit on and enjoy all of the perks and benefits of swimming in a natural environment in a completely safe and controlled way.
I got to see first hand how fantastic all of the RLSS staff and volunteers are and how committed they are to helping people to stay safe and enjoy the water. Along with a range of our design work for the organisation from the last few years, seeing how this helps portray their character and helps to communicate the charity’s story.
Over 100 competitors took part in 4 races throughout the day, along with many more supporters, families and RLSS representatives to create a lively day with a fantastic atmosphere for everyone to make the most. Even the sun was shining – for some of the day!
I can’t encourage you enough to join me next year to jump in at the deep end and make some more waves to enjoy the freedom of open water swimming, while supporting and raising funds for such a fantastic organisation. See you there!
