Pantone Color Institute Announces PANTONE Minion Yellow

So, not many people know this about me, but I am a major sucker for animated movies (I tend to keep it quiet as I’m fast approaching 30) and so I was beyond excited when I heard the news that Pantone Color Institute have created an official new colour, Minion Yellow…I know!!

The collaboration with Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment is based on the fun and energetic characters from Despicable Me, celebrating the release of its prequel, Minions (in theatres from 10th July 2015).

“Just as the sun’s rays enliven us, PANTONE Minion Yellow is a color that heightens awareness and creates clarity, lighting the way to the intelligence, originality and the resourcefulness of an open mind – this is the color of hope, joy and optimism,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute.

Working in a highly creative environment, the desire for colour is becoming evermore imperative to any concept, idea or thought. It’s what pushes design, sets trends and encourages that emotion and reaction within us.

This colour is playful, vibrant and most certainly uplifting and it’s the first time a colour swatch has been tied to a movie. I have imagined how other movies would look…

Pantone-FilmsI personally will be ditching any stationery I have and my desk will soon look like Minion Yellow overload.
