Primarily aimed at children aged 8-12 years, the Rookie Lifeguard programme is the junior award scheme of the Royal Life Saving Society UK. The Rookie skills make students aware of how to take better care of themselves, their family and friends, and give them the information they need to promote water safety in their day to day activities. These important awards contain survival, rescue and sports skills as well as Life Support and water safety elements and fulfills all of the Key Stage 2 water safety elements of the National Curriculum. RLSS required a new brand identity to appeal to young aspiring lifeguards that would also motivate them to join the programme. GRIN created a fun and quirky identity, focusing on the RLSS yellow and red colour palette. We provided new illustrations to tie in with the new creative, whilst graphical icons and elements have been used to communicate information in an informal and eye-catching approach, raising awareness of the programme in an engaging and interesting way.
