A truly unique brand identity

GRIN was asked to devise a new brand identity for UNICUS, which is a subsidiary of Sheffield University. Previously called ‘Sheffield Trading Services’, UNICUS meaning ‘Unique’ in Latin, required a style which reflected the many different services the company provides. Part of the UNICUS vision was to ‘Bring refreshment, discovery and fun into our services and offer’, therefore GRIN created an identity formed of individual letters from a range of typefaces, and a vibrant set of colours which can be used in isolation or in combination.

A stripe device picking colours from the palette was used to add a striking colour element to stationery and communication materials. The identity was rolled out across corporate guidelines, stationery and business cards, giving the UNICUS team the opportunity to choose their preferred colour and typeface.
